Why Rates Dropped Today
Treasury yields steadied ahead of the Federal Reserve’s October 28 policy meeting, giving mortgage rates some room to fall. The 10-year Treasury note — which 30-year mortgage rates closely track — has been holding near 5.11%.
The biggest movers were the 30-year Jumbo (-0.207) and the 15-year conventional (-0.195) — both significant single-day drops that suggest lenders are pulling back on risk pricing ahead of the Fed announcement.
